Brands you can Get in a Honcho Box – Part 1

You often see them in billboard, stores, or other commercial advertisements. They might even be your favorite brand of clothing, shoes, or bags. But there’s more to these brands than just the fancy name or attention-catching billboard photo.

Let’s see how these brands came about and how they started, from their humble beginnings up to this point where they became known all across the globe.

 1. Polo by Ralph Lauren

28-year old Ralph Lauren started his clothing business with creating men’s ties and menswear out of a drawer from the showroom in the Empire State Building in the year 1968. After just a year, he gained his very first in-store clothing shop inside Bloomingdale’s where he sold a full line of men’s clothing. Because of his dedication to his craft, he was able to launch a women’s clothing collection after just a few years of being in business.

Today, the clothing empire has over 493 stores that the Ralph Lauren Corporation directly operates, including stores from their other aggregate brands such as Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Polo Sport, Club Monaco, Polo Golf, Polo Ralph Lauren Children, and other brands under their umbrella. The corporation is also being actively traded in the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RL.

2. Michael Kors

Born Karl Anderson Junior, the founder of this multi-million clothing empire enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York only to withdraw nine months later after being offered to sell his clothing creations at the Lothars. In 1981, his collection catches the attention of fashion mogul Dawn Mello, who then helped him gain customers and just within 3 years, Kors was able to dominate Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale’s.

Year after year, Michael Kors conquered the fashion industry like a storm, gaining awards, recognition, and partnerships with big brands. He was also included in Time Magazine’s List of 100 most influential people in the world. Talk about power!

3. Nine West

This brand originated from 9 West, 57th Street in New York City. They started out with footwear but eventually offered clothing, handbags, legwear, jewelry, watches, and other ladies’ accessories during the early years of the 90s. After 37 years of successful collaborations and partnerships with several names in fashion, Nine West decided to close its Canada stores in 2015 while its United Stated Stores filed for bankruptcy in 2018. Nevertheless, this well-known brand has become a staple luxury name all across the world for its elegant styles and lavish approach to fashion.
